Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, commercially driven and strategic Director of Sales to lead the overall sales, marketing, revenue generation and brand positioning efforts for our property. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive commercial strategies that maximize revenue, market share, brand awareness and profitability across all business segments.
The ideal candidate is an inspiring leader with strong hospitality expertise, exceptional relationship-building skills and a passion for creating innovative sales and marketing initiatives that drive sustainable business growth.
What You’ll Do
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and implement the hotel's annual sales and marketing strategy aligned with business objectives and budget targets.
- Identify new market opportunities and revenue streams to maximize profitability.
- Drive transient, corporate, leisure, MICE, group and wholesale business segments.
- Collaborate closely with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, distribution and demand strategies.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments to maintain competitive positioning.
- Prepare and manage annual commercial budgets, forecasts and performance reports.
Sales Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop the Sales team to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key corporate accounts, travel agencies, tour operators, DMCs and strategic partners.
- Conduct regular sales calls, client presentations and networking activities.
- Oversee contract negotiations and account management initiatives.
- Ensure effective prospecting and conversion strategies are in place across all market segments.
Business Development & Partnerships
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that support revenue generation and brand growth.
- Represent the property at trade shows, industry events, sales missions and networking functions.
- Build strong relationships within local communities, tourism boards and industry associations.
- Support the development of unique destination experiences that align with the Mantis brand ethos.
Leadership & Team Development
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, training and succession planning.
- Promote employee engagement and alignment with company values.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Revenue Management and Finance teams.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 8 + years of progressive sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 3 years in a director-level or equivalent leadership role - Proven track record of developing and executing successful commercial strategies that drive revenue growth and market share expansion
- Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple business segments including transient, corporate, leisure, MICE, and group sales - Strong proficiency in revenue management, pricing optimization, and demand forecasting - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and inspire at all organizational levels
- Exceptional relationship-building and networking capabilities with corporate accounts, travel agencies, tour operators, and industry partners - Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities - Proven leadership experience in building, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams **Preferred
Qualifications
:** - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or related field - Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and sales/CRM software - Knowledge of luxury or upscale hospitality brands - Experience with destination marketing and tourism board partnerships - Certification in hospitality sales or revenue management
