General Area of Responsibility:
1. The `Food Handling Function ‘reports to the Master
2. The `Food Handling Function ‘must fully adhere to the guidance in Food Safety
3. If any of the guidance in Food Safety cannot be maintained the Master must be informed.
4. Comply with the regulations of the company safety management system.
Specific Area of Responsibility:
1. The Cook is responsible for the preparation of meals and cleaning of the vessel’s Galley, pantries and refrigerators.
2. Assist deck crew with mooring operations.
3. Adhere to company HSE policy, observe all safety procedures as required and conduct himself safely and responsibly.
4. Have a comprehensive knowledge of all safety equipment available on board the tugboat and be aware of their specific locations and
able to use them in emergency situations.
5. Have basic knowledge of towing operations and be able to deal with mooring ropes and towing winches and assist deck hands in mooring
operations.
6. Take part in all training exercises performed by the tugboat and train to deal with emergency situations.
7. Ensure galley waste is disposed off according to ship’s waste management plan.
Required/Preferred Education and competencies:
 Two years’ experience on board a marine vessel, preferably a tugboat
 Valid Seaman Book
 Valid Seafarer Medical Certificate
 Valid Cook’s medical certificate
 Valid Cook’s medical certificate
Possession of STCW Certification (A-II/5)
 Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1)
 Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (STCW A-VI/1-4)
 Basic Safety Training (STCW A-VI/1 Manila)
 Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)
 Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2)
 STCW - Cooks Certificate (Food Hygiene)
