Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
The Role
The Underground Truck Driver operates underground haul and water trucks to transport ore and waste between loading points and designated dump/stockpile locations in line with daily production plans. The role completes mandatory pre-start and in-shift inspections, maintains disciplined radio communication with dispatch and supervisors, and promptly reports defects, delays, and hazards to minimise unplanned downtime while ensuring accurate shift records.

The Key Responsibilities
Haulage operations: Operate underground haul and water trucks to move ore, waste, and materials safely as per dispatch instructions.
Loading and traffic coordination: Work with LHDs and other mobile equipment to achieve safe loading, tipping, and traffic flow.
Material control: Confirm destinations and dumping methods to prevent spillage, contamination, and re-handling.
Pre-start inspections: Complete and record inspections; remove equipment from service for safety-critical defects and escalate.
Dispatch communication: Maintain clear radio communication; report location, load status, delays, and conditions; complete production logs.
Operator care: Perform cleaning and basic care; monitor for abnormal conditions; secure equipment and hand over faults clearly.
HSE and emergency readiness: Apply underground traffic rules and critical controls; report hazards; follow emergency procedures.
The Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid heavy vehicle or underground mine truck operating licence as per national/site requirements.
2–4 years’ experience operating haul trucks or heavy mobile equipment in mining/heavy industry (underground preferred).
Demonstrated pre-start inspection and defect reporting using site checklists.
Clear two-way radio communication and compliance with dispatch protocols.
Ability to work shift rotation in underground conditions; medically fit with PPE compliance.
Arabic proficiency (professional) and basic English for safety communication and reporting.
