As part of our growing Middle East engineering hub, we are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex Medium Voltage (MV) design projects and support our regional and international customers with high-quality, standards-compliant solutions.

Your Role – Strategic, Technical, and Impactful!

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take technical leadership in the design and development of secondary systems for MV electrical substations. You will also mentor junior engineers, ensure quality compliance, and drive design optimization to meet ecustomer and industry demands.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee end-to-end MV design activities including Base and Detailed Design, Manufacturing Drawings, and As-Built documentation.
• Analyze project technical documents, drawings, and specifications to determine customer requirements and ensure optimal solutions.
• Create and review high-quality drawings and documentation including:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD), General Arrangements, Protection & Control Schematics
• AC/DC Load Calculations, Interlocking Logic, Heat Dissipation, CT/VT and Relay Schedules
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, project management, and factory teams to ensure seamless integration and manufacturing readiness.
• Ensure all designs comply with IEC, ANSI, SEC, and National Grid standards.
• Review and validate designs from peers or junior engineers to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Provide technical input in project planning, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of internal design standards and best practices.
• Mentor and coach junior design engineers to build technical capability within the team.

Your Qualifications and Skills – Expert-Level and Forward-Thinking!

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from a reputable university.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in MV design engineering with a focus on secondary systems, RMUs, and protection relays.
• Deep knowledge of MV AIS & GIS Switchgear and extensive familiarity with IEC and ANSI standards.
• Proven experience with protection relays (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider, SEL) and communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3).
• Experience working with SEC and National Grid (NG) standards is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens MV GIS & AIS switchgear design is a strong asset.
• Proficient in CAD tools and engineering software relevant to electrical design.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
